The best conversations happen around the dinner table…
A few weeks back at a family dinner the question was posed… if you could only have five movies to watch for the rest of your life, what would they be? I like questions like these, because depending upon your company, you will get a variety of answers. For example, at our table there were answers that ranged from The Dark Knight to Casablanca and from Back to the Future to Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.
This question also got me thinking deeper as the weeks have gone on, with all the services out there for endless movie enjoyment, what have I been watching? So without further delay, I’m going to give you insight into the last fifteen movies I have watched. Some of these you will have seen and others maybe you missed somehow. If you are wondering if they are worth your precious time, you will also find my very own unique rating for each film. And away we go…
Barbie (2023)
The Barbies shine as the stars in Barbieland, a place of flawless beauty and perfection. But even in this seemingly ideal realm, existential questions can and still do arise, reminding even the Barbies of life’s uncertainties. Living in their shadows, the Kens, struggle to find their own identities and significance in a society that appears perfect. This contrast between perfection and inner turmoil serves as a reminder that, no matter how perfect a world may seem, the complexities of the human experience always find their way into the fabric of humanity and Barbie Land is no exception.
